As we near the anniversary of the discovery of our youngest daughter’s brain tumour, we sit in quiet contemplation. Behind the busyness of weekly chemotherapy a two-hour drive from home and other specialist appointments, what we know is that our daughter is full of life and a strong spirit. And we know that the tumour, which one neurologist has described as ‘indolent’, is still there. Perhaps just as quietly dying, perhaps in a kindly suspension. This week will mark number 45 of 70 Vinblastine infusions on our daughter’s horizon. So it is we live in gratefulness for her health as we learn to live with her tumour and how its presence shows up in her body, her days, our days.
